Children's Ministry

The Good ShepherdAt Piedmont, we understand that we, the Body of Christ, are not complete without our children and youth. And so we offer several programs designed to teach and involve children in the faith that we share.

For children five and under, nursery care is provided. For those parents who wish to have their young ones close, there is the “pray-ground” provided in the sanctuary during worship. The usher will be glad to help you and your children to participate in the service, as much as you are able.

Children five years old through eighth grade are invited to spend the first part of the worship service in the undercroft (Lower Level of the church) and join in "THE SHEPHERD's WAY", a unique program that uses a Montessori approach to share the Good News of Christ. In this program, children are invited into a space and time where they can discover and give voice to their own experience of God and to know Jesus as a Good Shepherd who calls them by name, cares for and guides them, and to whom they are very precious.

We recognize that the study of Holy Scripture provides both children and adults with a deeper experience of God in history and the early church. And so in Shepherd's Way, children are study the same Gospel lesson that their families are hearing in the sanctuary, as they learn to be Christ’s hand, feet, and heart  in the world.

We would love to have you and your children with us on Sunday mornings and to help you to understand and embrace the faith that we share in Christ.

For several weeks during the summer, we offer a VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL on Sunday mornings in order to share the Good News with children who are not able to attend during the rest of the year and to enrich our children's growth in faith.
